What We Believe

AS A NEW MEMBER AT HOLY MOUNTAIN BAPTIST CHURCH

Statement of Faith

Whether you have been around church your entire life or you are totally new to it all, HMBC would be thrilled to minister to you!

  • The Bible: We believe the Bible is God’s Word given by divine inspiration, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness (II Timothy 3:16)
  • The Trinity: We believe in the one true God who exists eternally in
three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the
Trinity possesses the fullness of the divine nature and works
    together in perfect unity.
  • Salvation: We believe that salvation is solely through faith in
Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, not earned
by human efforts. It is received by repentance from sin and faith
in the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
  • Jesus Christ: We affirm the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin
birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary death on the cross,
bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, and His imminent
return. He is the only way to the Father and the Savior of all who
    believe in Him.
  • Regeneration and Sanctification: We believe that regeneration is
the work of the Holy Spirit, which brings new life to the believer.
Sanctification is the ongoing process of becoming more like
Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and the study of
    God’s Word.
  • Baptism and the Lord’s Supper: We practice believer’s baptism by
immersion as a public declaration of faith and identification with
the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We also observe
the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice, open to all
    believers.
  • The Church: We affirm the local church as a body of baptized
believers gathered for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and the
proclamation of the Gospel. We believe in the autonomy of the
local church and its responsibility to carry out the Great
    Commission.
  • Separation and Holiness: We believe in the biblical principle of
separation from worldly influences and associations that are
contrary to God’s Word. We strive for personal holiness, living a
life that is set apart for God’s purposes.
  • Christian Conduct: We affirm the importance of living a life that
reflects Christ’s teachings and commands. We seek to love God
and others, to live with integrity, and to be good stewards of the
    resources entrusted to us.
  • Eternal Destiny: We believe in the bodily resurrection of all
people, the eternal bliss of the saved in heaven, and the eternal
separation from God of the unsaved in hell.
